The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the women’s squad for their historic tour of the West Indies. This will mark the Tigresses’ first-ever visit to the Caribbean. The tour includes three One-Day Internationals (ODIs), critical for direct qualification to this year’s ODI World Cup in India, and three T20 Internationals. Matches are scheduled from January 19 to 31 in St. Kitts.
Squad Updates and Jahanara’s Absence
The squad sees the return of Lata Mondol and Fariha Islam, while Marufa Akter is back after missing the Ireland T20Is. However, pacer Jahanara Alam has requested a temporary break due to personal reasons. According to a BCB official, Jahanara is prioritizing her mental health during this time.
“She is not retiring,” a BCB official clarified. “She wants to improve her mental state. Since she’s not playing, she will not be under the central contract.”
Jahanara played in the T20Is during the recent home series against Ireland but was not part of the ODI lineup.
